Stage Make-Up Guidelines for Dancers
Why DANCERS NEED STAGE MAKE-Up
Stage make-up is essential for dancers as it enhances and defines facial features, ensuring expressions are visible to the audience from a distance, under stage lighting, and in videos and photographs.
YOUNGER DANCERS (4-5YRS)
We don’t expect our younger dancers to wear full makeup. A small amount of red lipstick so their lovely smile can be seen on stage is all that’s needed. If they would like more you are welcome to apply the below.
Recommended Products
Foundation: Choose a shade that matches the dancer's skin tone.
Blush: Apply a subtle blush to the cheeks for a natural touch of colour.
Eyeshadow: Use shades of brown and neutral colors, with optional shimmers in similar tones.
Eyebrow Pencil: For dancers with light or blonde eyebrows, use an eyebrow pencil to ensure they are visible on stage.
Eyeliner: Black eyeliner on the top eyelid is recommended, but only if the dancer is comfortable with it.
Mascara: Black mascara to define the eyes.
Lipstick: Red lipstick for a bold, classic look.
Optional: Add bronzer for contouring and highlighter on the high points of the face and brow for extra definition.
